 The Resource Centre is proposed to be a one-stop support for all the concerned stakeholders of the craft and act as a repository of all relevant knowledge about tools, technology and data about the relevant craft sector.

 

Shristi has received grant-in-aid from the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India to implement a National Level Craft-based Resource Centre on Terracotta and Ceramics at Barasat, West Bengal.

 

The overall objective of the Resource Centre is to streamline the flow of information within the Ministry and with her stakeholders.  To understand the needs, strengths and weaknesses of a particular crafts sector and apply design expertise and knowledge base for capacity building and skill up-gradation of artisans with a contemporary approach.

 

The following services will be provided at the Resource Centre:

  • Technical and Technological Information
  • Market Intelligence
  • Enterprise development
  • Microfinance activity
  • Reporting/Monitoring, Evaluation/Experience sharing
  • Product information
  • Raw material information
  • Cluster/producer information

 

The Resource Centre would strive for sustainability by practicing networking and coordination as per emerging demand and need for professional services between the various stakeholders to deliver effective, timely, coordinated and seamless service. There will be interflow of information between the various research institutes and technical laboratories.
